Oxford poet Sue Ellen Thompson will talk about the issues writers face when they take “family” as their subject. Does a writer have to get permission from a family member to publish a poem or story about that person? If that family member objects, should the writer respect that person’s wishes? Thompson—author of six books of poetry and winner of the 2010 Maryland Author Award—will read from her own work and discuss the dilemmas she faced and the decisions she made.
